Gratitude and Mindfulness

Dear Wonderful Families,

Below is the link to watch the digital book your children created with our third grade buddy class. As part of our B-COOL school-wide theme, we focused on observing what we are grateful for as we practice mindfulness. Our classes decided to create a pattern book using the structure ___ is for ______ because ______. This work supported our study of pattern books! While we didn't have a traditional performance, each of your children worked diligently for three weeks to create a book using a collaborative process with their partner. We were so proud of their thinking and hard work!

Warmly,
Christine

We Have Sound Power!

We have been learning that as super readers, we have super powers! We learned to activate these incredible super powers to help us become readers. After learning about pointer power, picture power and reread power, we explored sound power. During this time, we learned to stretch out words while reading and writing. The photo below captures some of the words we have learned to stretch out while writing.

As we wrote new words, we learned to listen closely to those tricky middle sounds to help us. We are so very proud of your hard working readers and writers! Thank you for all that you do to support us.

Drawing Emotions

We are learning to draw stories with illustrations that tell the reader about our reaction to an event. In order to do this, we are learning to draw emotions through facial expressions. We carefully observed photos that represent different feelings and noticed the eyes, eyebrows, cheeks and mouth. After, we practiced drawing faces showing different emotions we might experience. Check out our work!
